AKATOMBO is a musical project by Paul T. Kirk, a Japan-based Scottish musician/ producer/ film-maker/ photographer. The project based around enticingly seductive, electronically-manipulated beats intercut with samples, urban field recordings, etc., - all thrown in to a heady stew along with shortwave radio transmissions and unsettling analogue effects, to create dystopian, dystonic, Ballardian, audio adventures. He’s released five recordings and three collaborative recordings so far and has a variety of fans including the members of Wire, the ex-member of Les Rallizes Denudes and Katsuhiro Otomo, the director of AKIRA.
